Lockdown may be lifting but life will be far from normal for Melburnians with many businesses still unable to open as questions remain around how the delta strain of COVID-19 leaked out of hotel quarantine.
Tailored Fitness Solutions Owner Sam Dawson told Sky News anger was probably the “biggest” feeling in response to the government’s insistence gyms should remain closed despite the lockdown easing.
“Anger’s probably the biggest one, like I said … the expectation of being opened today and then having your hopes cut down at the last second was a tough pill to swallow,” he said.
“I understand that there are restrictions, but I think there should be a bit more leniency”.
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton was adamant the decision was based on health advice arguing “the combination of indoor settings, closed environments, people exerting themselves, really has significant opportunity for spread”.
